A snapshot of the gigs I've been to recently.

The Rocks Australia Day '08 Gigs: |
There was Katie Noonan, Youth Group and Evermore, but the drawcard of the day for me was Something For Kate. And they really didn't disappoint, playing a tight, fiery set full of old favourites. They were also very photogenic! |
Missy Higgins: |
Although I've seen this girl play many times now this Dec 2007 gig the first time I've seen her do a solo show. What a long way she's come, from a shy girl supporting the Finn Brothers way back in 2004 to this confident woman at the EntCent. And I had the seats to enjoy it too! |
Crowded House: |
November 2007, and the Crowdies are back and in form at the EntCent. |
Live Earth: |
Well this was a good day, with lots of excellent performances from my new and old favourites, most memorable being Missy Higgins and the Crowdies, who turned a near-disaster of the stage lights failing into an encore to remember! |
The Killers: |
I must say that I was quite disappointed with this one in Jan 2007. Not that they were atrocious, just... flat. That's what you get when release a beautifully produced first album and fail to match it live. |
Ben Folds w/SSO: |
This gig in July 2006 was one with a difference. Though not an avid fan, I was curious to hear how his songs would sound when played with a full-scale orchestra. They sounded fantastic - it was like seeing in 3D after seeing 2D all your life. |
You Am I: |
Another blast from the past. They were one of my favourites when I was at uni 10 years ago, and they were incredibly good at their Enmore Theatre gig in June 2006, playing lots of their old hits. It was very emotional since the band had nearly disbanded, but they seem to be back. |
To prove that I can be completely shallow....
Criteria: Dark and handsome. If actor then they must have a good acting range. Charisma essential. Good height, deep, sexy voice and Australian/British accent preferred!
Current Flavour: Toby Stephens. There's really something about a brooding man in a cravat that's very fetching. Meet the man who made the role of Mr Rochester his own. Sure, Rochester is supposed to be 'ugly' (and Toby is certainly not that) but have you ever seen Rochester and Jane Eyre sizzle like this? Didn't think so. Makes Mr Darcy look like a cold, repressed twat.
Past Flavours:
|
|
Nov '08: Voices of Angels, Karekare, Hokianga Heaven
Oct '08: NZ Northland photos, To the End of the Earth, No doubt in Doubtless Bay, Opera Rage - who would have thunk it?
Sep '08: Tip-Toeing Through the Tulips, Hungry Hungry Hippo, 1, 2, 3, 4..., End of Winter?, The Special One, Across the Sea, One Man Band
